Albion impress against Tottenham

Sep 11th, 2010

West Brom continued their impressive performance levels with a well deserved draw against a strong Tottenham side at the Hawthorns.

Albion, who narrowly and unluckily lost 1-0 at Liverpool last week were looking to put in another impressive display to follow on from the Anfield game where hey really took the game to Liverpool.

The first half was dominated by Spurs who gave a league debut to surprise summer signing Rafeal Van der Vaart.

They took the lead on 27 minutes when a mix up in the Albion defence handed an opening to Luka Modric who duly dispatched a low drive past Albion keeper Scott Carson.

Albion got back in to the game against the overall run of play when Marc Antionne Fortune's blocked shot looped over to the far post where Chris Brunt was on hand to out jump the Tottenham defence and bring Albion level just before half time.

Albion were much stronger in the second half and should have claimed all of the points with Peter Odemwingie and Gabriel Tamas going very close.

Tamas, on a rare trip in to the opponents 18 yeard box played a neat 1-2 only to steer his shot wide under pressure.

Odemwingie made a fine run into the spurs box only to see his low curling effort impressively tipped wide by Carlo Cudicini.

Overall an impressive second half display from an Albion side growing in confidence.
